NCS FEST IN HUNTINGTON BEACH!

NCSFest is a free cartooning festival open to the public with lots of artists coming from around the globe!  (NCS stands for National Cartoonists Society.) I’m excited to be moderating a panel about collaboration with Zits and Baby Blues cartoonists Rick Kirkman, Jerry Scott, and Jim Borgman. They are pals of mine and great talents.

Wrapped up in that weekend is the awards banquet for the National Cartoonists Society, and I’m up for the big one. Fingers crossed, but it’s just nice to be nominated.

PICS FROM CRANE-CATION!

Kristin and I went to Nebraska to hang out with 100,000 Sand Hill Cranes.  They stop along the Platte River in Kearney every year for a month to plump up before nesting in Canada and beyond.

A PODCAST FOR CREATIVE TYPES

I ink all my strips while listening to podcasts, and one hands-on one for folks who want to make a living in the creative industry is Judy Carter’s The Power of Purpose.  I’m getting a lot from it.

A WORD OF CAUTION

As the sign says, never play dice with pigeons.

Thanks for tuning in!

Rhymes With Orange Mini-Minute Film Fest

Got less than a minute?  Welcome to the first mini-minute film fest!

In case you missed it, we’ve started animating some strips and doing some how-it’s-done videos, and we strung the first five together to show y’all.  So pop a popcorn (just one) and enjoy!

We’re posting them on our new Instagram account, rhymeswithorangecomic, and also on the Rhymes Comic Facebook page.  They’ll pop up on this blog as well.

It’s all part of our two new weekly features: Tune-In Tuesdays and Furry Fridays.

Tune-In Tuesdays will show a behind-the-scenes post from Rhymes With Orange.

Furry Fridays will showcase an animal cartoon.

More to come!

Hilary and Rina
